The Tamborine Mountain Rainforest Tour focuses on the different types of rainforest around Tamborine Mountain.
During the tour, we will see a rainforest with distinctive Piccabeen Palm groves, a wet eucalypt forest dominated by tall Flooded Gums, an open forest with Bracken Fern understorey, and woodland. We will walk past basalt columns, rocky outcrops, and two beautiful waterfalls.
After the pick-up, we drive to Cedar Creek Falls, where we will walk through eucalypt rainforest and dry rainforest to the rockpools below. This walk has many steps, so be prepared for an uphill climb on our return.
We will then drive to Curtis Falls. This walk begins in a wet eucalypt forest beneath towering Flooded Gums.Notice a drop in temperature as the wet eucalypt forest merges into a lush rainforest. Beautiful ferns can be seen in the canopy above. The rock pool and surrounding basalt rocks are stunning.
After a delicious lunch at Spice of Life Cafe & Deli, we head to the Knoll section. This walk features a lush rainforest with towering trees emerging through the canopy. A 100 meter long track branches off through an open eucalypt forest to Cameron Falls lookout.
After or before this walk, we will enjoy a cup of coffee or tea at the recreation area with stunning views. On a clear day, we can enjoy views across the valley to the southern suburbs of Brisbane and the D’Aguilar Range.
Throughout the day, we will hear and encounter diverse rainforest birds.
Before we return to your drop-off point, there is one more lookout at Robert Sowter Park. This lookout is on the ridge line on Mount Tamborine and offers fantastic westerly views.
